Cheryl Diane Smith Adams was born on December 20, 1944, in Brownwood, Texas to Cloyd James Smith and Esther Mae Sagely. She passed away at home on Sunday, October 12, 2025, following a lengthy illness. Cheryl was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and a lifelong Southern Baptist.
She was a member of First Baptist Church. She taught children, teens, and adults of all ages. One of Cheryl's passions was missions and missions education. She was involved in Women's Missionary Union and taught Girls in Action for many years. Cheryl was a member of the First Baptist Master's Builders and participated in mission trips to the Texas River Valley, Michigan, and Mississippi.
She most recently volunteered at the Grand Prairie Christian Women's Job Corps as a Bible study leader. In addition, Cheryl loved music and sang in church choirs, sang solos, and played in a harpsicord band. Outside of the church, Cheryl worked at Grand Prairie High School as the registrar.
Cheryl married Ronnie Adams on June 28, 1963, at Oak Knoll Baptist Church in Haltom City, Texas. They were married for 62 years.
Cheryl loved her family dearly. She especially doted on (spoiled) her six grandchildren.
Cheryl was predeceased by her parents, Loyd and Esther Pool, and daughter, Stephanie Paige Jackson.
She is survived by husband Ronnie Adams of Grand Prairie, Texas; son Greg and wife Becky Adams of Grand Prairie, Texas; daughter Allison Adams of Nashville, Tennessee; granddaughters Savannah Blue Jackson, Taylor Christian Adams, and Caitlin Paige Jackson; grandsons Aldan Hale, Cody Hand, and Ethan Anderson; sister Connie and husband Reggie Kelly of Walker, Minnesota; sister-in-law Frances Adams of Godley, Texas; half-sisters Joann Perciful and Barabara Jean Sasseen of Jonesboro, Arkansas; half-brothers James and Charles Pool; and many nieces and nephews.

Aunt Cheryl had a heart full of love and a laugh that could fill a room with joy. I´ll never forget being her little flower girl at her wedding, or the times my brother Ted and I spent with her and Uncle Ronnie when our folks were away. She always made us feel so cared for and loved. She even taught me one of life´s most important lessons - always keep your feet cute and your toes painted!
Aunt Cheryl lived her faith so beautifully. The book she gave me, Jesus Calling, still brings me comfort and reminds me of her gentle, godly spirit. She truly practiced what she preached, and I´ll carry her love and laughter with me always.
