Sandra Kay Ward, 78, of Paris, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, in Dallas, Texas.
Kay was born on December 26, 1946, in Deport, Texas, to William "Bill" Gann and Lura Bell (Kincaid) Gann. She graduated from Deport High School, where she was honored as Salutatorian of her class. After many dedicated years of service, she retired from the United States Postal Service.
Kay lived a life centered around love, family, and kindness. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Known for her selflessness and heart of gold, Kay touched every life she encountered with her warmth and gentle spirit. She also cherished her little dog, Bella Sue, who was her constant companion, and shared many happy years with her special friend, Joe Bill Carter.
She is survived by her daughters, Christie Ward and wife Terri Baughan of Paris, Texas; Sandy Ward and partner Kristen Watson of Arlington, Texas; and Melanie Melton and husband Toby Melton of Rockwall, Texas. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Taylor Shafer with husband Chase Shafer, Chase Melton; her precious great-grandchildren, Reagan Kate Shafer and Steel Patrick Shafer; her friend Joe Carter; her sisters and brothers-in-law; numerous nieces and cousins who loved her dearly; and her former husband, Gary Don Ward, and his wife, Renae Ward.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, William Gann and Lura (Kincaid)Gann; her brother, Dennis Gann; and two nephews.
Her family and friends will remember her as a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose love, kindness, and gentle spirit will forever remain in their hearts.
A celebration of life will be held, Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 2-4pm at the Heritage Hall in Paris, Texas. 1009 W Kaufman St. Paris, Texas 75460
