Cheryl Ann Broemer, a woman whose laughter echoed louder than any 70's rock anthem, took her final bow on August 29, 2025, in Temple, Texas. Born on November 7, 1956, in Bessemer Township, Michigan, Cheryl danced through life's ups and downs with the grace of a jitterbug queen and the humor of a seasoned stand-up comedian.
Cheryl, known as the life of the party, could often be found with a smile as bright as a field of sunflowers, one of her favorite blooms. Her love for music, especially country, was matched only by her passion for cutting a rug, whether it be to the twang of a guitar or the swing of a catchy jitterbug tune. And let's not forget the countless evenings she spent outwitting contestants on Jeopardy from the comfort of her couch, all while shuffling a deck of cards in anticipation of the next family game night.
As the matriarch of a laughter-filled home, Cheryl embraced her role as 'Nana' to her adored grandson Damian Hampton, passing on her wit and wisdom alongside her treasured recipes for fun. Her daughters, Nichole Broemer and Danielle Villanueva, inherited their mother's courage, and they were the Thelma and Louise of day-tripping adventures, leaving no road untraveled or joke untold. Johnny Villanueva, her son-in-law, knew that keeping up with Cheryl's quick wit was a challenge akin to solving a Rubik's cube blindfolded.
Cheryl's siblings, including Wayland Koski from Virginia, Lenore Koski from Wisconsin, and Korrin Dahl from Michigan, could all attest to Cheryl's larger-than-life personality. Her family was at the center of her life. She deeply loved and cherished not only her immediate family but also her extended family across Michigan, Wisconsin, Virginia, and Illinois. Time spent with them brought her great joy and comfort.
Never one to pass up an adventure or a chance to be the center of attention, Cheryl was often seen riding shotgun with her motorcycle friends, her laughter trailing behind them like a rock and roll anthem. Betty Boop might have been her spirit cartoon, but it was her beloved dog, Roxi, who was her loyal sidekick through every twist and turn.
Her love for thriller movies was as iconic as her sense of humor. She loved a good scare as much as she loved making others chuckle, proving that she was as courageous as she was funny. Whether she was telling ghost stories or cracking jokes, she knew how to light up a room and keep her audience captivated.
Funny, courageous, and loving are the words that paint the portrait of Cheryl's life, but they hardly do justice to the woman who could out-joke any comedian. Her legacy is one of joy, of daring to love life with the intensity of a country music ballad, and of never missing a beat on the dance floor.
To know Cheryl was to know laughter, to witness courage in its most vibrant form, and to be enveloped in love as warm and inviting as a Texas sunset. So, here's to Cheryl Ann Broemer—mother, Nana, sister, friend, and the best darn tag-along a motorcycle gang could ask for. She may have left the stage, but her encore will play on in the hearts of all who loved her. Keep dancing, Cheryl, and may the heavens be filled with the sound of your infectious laughter.
