Cheryl "Cheri" was born in Cherokee on July 3, 1952 to Duane and Phylis (Struve) Anderson. She spent her childhood on the farm north of Peterson, Iowa. Her days were filled with normal chores around the farm and her first love, horses. Her favorites were Beauty and Queenie. She graduated from Sioux Valley High School in 1970 and then attended Storm Lake School of Hairstyling graduating in 1971.
Following graduation from beauty school, Cheri married her life partner, Greg Brown on June 4, 1971 from Cherokee. Cheri and Greg met between her junior and senior year of high school with help of his cousin. To this union, three boys were born, Ryan in 1973, Shawn in 1975, and Shane in 1976. Cheri and Greg first lived in Holstein then moved back to Peterson, where she eventually owned her own beauty shop. She owned Chery's Beauty Shop for nearly 50 years, while also working for Wendy Delutri towards the end. It was when Wendy was quitting, Cheri thought it was time to retire also. Many customers thanked her for making them look their best over her many years of hairstyling.
Cheri played by her dad's rule, that if you play hard, you have to work hard! Cheri was a member of the First Congregational Church, where she held several offices and was president of Women's Fellowship for several years. She also enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling with numerous out of state vacations, both with family and friends. She couldn't wait for her annual Miltona, Minnesota week, a place she loved since she was a little girl going with her parents and brothers.
Cheri was preceded in death by her infant son, Shawn in 1975, brother Rick in 2010, father Duane in 2020 and her mother Phyllis in 2021, and sister-in-law Peggy Jaminet in 2024.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband Greg; two sons, Ryan Brown and Shane Brown; granddaughters Josie (special friend Billy Lange) and Lily; brother Jon (Janet) Anderson; sister-in-law Deb Anderson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Jeff (Patty) Brown and Rod (Marci) Brown, Fred Jaminet; also many nieces, nephews, and friends.
