Cheryl Bryan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Haughey Funeral Home, Inc. on Feb. 2, 2026.
Cheryl L. (Compton) Bryan, age 63, of Southport, NY, passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2026. Cheryl was born on July 10, 1962, in Corning, NY to the late Richard A. Compton and Edna K. "Kitt" Compton.

Cheryl graduated from Campbell Central School in 1979 and SUNY Institute of Technology in 1989. She held several administrative assistant positions at Corning Incorporated and Borg-Warner when she moved to the Ithaca area. On June 23, 1989, she married Joseph Parrillo and together they had five wonderful children who were her pride and joy. On May 3, 2019, Cheryl married John Bryan.

She found joy where the road was long and the horizon was wide. As a devoted lover of Assateague Island, she cherished the wild beauty of the ocean and quiet moments that came with being close to nature. It was a place that reflected her spirit – free, resilient, and endlessly alive.

An avid motorcycle rider, she embraced the thrill of the ride and the freedom it represented. She also carried that determination into every marathon she ran, pushing herself mile after mile.

Above all, she will be remembered for her strength, her passion, and the way she lived on every open road, every finish line crossed and every breeze off the shore at Assateague.

She is deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.

Along with her husband, John, Cheryl is survived by her mother, Kitt of Cornelius, NC; her children: Joseph (Cari Ober) Parrillo, Christopher (Rebecca) Parrillo, Aaron (Megan Quackenbush) Parrillo, Angelina (Joel) Cramer, and Katherine (John Van Houten) Parrillo; grandchildren: Maximus Savino, Leo Cramer, Gia Marie Savino-Parrillo, Lincoln Cramer, Carter Van Houten, and Miles Van Houten; sisters, Lorri K. Compton of Corning and Renee A. Compton of Cornelius, NC. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard, and Joe, the father of her children.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 1:00 – 3:00pm at Friends of the Cross Christian Church, 2618 Goff Road, Corning, NY, where a service will follow at 3:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation for funeral expenses. A Go Fund Me Page is currently being created.

Cheryl's care has been entrusted to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.

Cheryl played the flute so beautifully in our services. She and her music will be greatly missed. She was always willing to do whatever she could to help others. I´m so glad I was able to know her and so sorry to hear of her passing.
