Cheryl Chiles Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Scott Funeral Home on Mar. 23, 2026.
Cheryl Yvonne Chiles, age 87

Cheryl was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on June 15, 1938 to Wayne and Carmen (Campbell) Wilson. On March 20, 2026, she passed away peacefully at home after battling cancer for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Carmen Wilson, her son, Eric Chiles, and great-granddaughter, Anna Catherine Chiles.

Cheryl was survived by her husband, Frank Chiles, her brother, Jerry Wilson (Marba); by her children, Colle Kidd, and Toby Chiles, her daughter-in-law, Tawanna Chiles; by her grandchildren, Leah Phillips (Joe), Anthony Chiles (Alexandra), Jason Chiles (Brittany), Isaac Chiles (Kayla), and Zachary Chiles, and eleven great-grandchildren; by her sister-in-law, Janet Morrow, and brother-in-law, James Chiles, and nephews; as well as by extended family, Ralph Manecke (Yvonne), Louis Sikes (Barbarita) and children.

Cheryl was best described as faithful. She was a faithful wife to the love of her life, Frank, whom she married on July 4, 1956, in Durant, Oklahoma. She was a faithful mother, always pointing her children to Jesus. She was a faithful Grammy to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with. She was a faithful member of the Christ Gospel Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, serving in many capacities in the church for 57 years. She was known for making puppets and having puppet shows and working as a leader in the Royal Regiments program for many years. Then, she was a faithful member of the Christ Gospel Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana, enjoying the livestreamed services the two years she was unable to attend in person.

Cheryl worked outside the home only a few times while her children were growing up, as she would rather be serving at home as a housewife. She enjoyed sewing and painting, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with family. She liked finding ways to have fun and to make family and friends laugh. She was loved by all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.
