Cheryl Anne Bracke Crandell born, June 24, 1956, in Geneva, Illinois daughter of Marie Rasmussen and Philipp Bracke passed away on August 17, 2015, in Mesa, Arizona surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer. It is with deep sorrow that we bid a temporary farewell to a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and dear friend. Cheryl is a woman of many talents. Her quilts have warmed many people as well as their hearts. Her quilts weren't just simple machine-patched together pieces of fabric, they were works of art, intricately woven into patch works of hand-sewn love. Her gardens were replicas of Eden blooming with vegetables and flowers.

Cheryl was proud of her family. She often bragged about all her football boys when they were in high school. They were tough and fast. When Wendall passed away, she was overwhelmed with gratitude when the high school honored him by retiring his jersey. She also was deeply honored to have two police officers, Wendall and Mark, in her family. She was equally proud of her son, Clint and his artistic and problem solving abilities and her daughter, Jamie who lived nearby and was a support through many trials. Cheryl's legacy is her children and grandchildren.

She married Bobby Crandell, on March 29, 1975. They both worked at Bison Ranch for several years. Cheryl loved horses. She often took people on trail-rides and was comfortable in the saddle. Her favorite past time was looking for pottery and arrow heads. She never found many, but the joy was in the search.

In later years, she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she gained a testimony of life after death. She often talked of the day she would join Bobby and Wendall in a glorious reunion. She is now with them, and we wait to be with her again.

Cheryl was a caretaker. She spent many hours caring for her mother-in-law, Charlotte Crandell and her neighbor, Clara Reidhead, in their hours of greatest needs. Cheryl understands best what it means to be cared for. If she could, she would reach back across the veil and express gratitude to all who spent time caring for her needs. There were friends, family, nurses, doctors, church members, they all played a part. She would say, thank you to all of them and say to all, "God Bless, until we meet again."

She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Harold Crandell, and her son Wendall Briant Crandell, and is survived by her brother Stewart, Gilbert, and Philip Bracke and her children, Clint, Mark, Jamie, their spouses, significant others and her beloved grandchildren.

Cheryl's funeral services will be held on August 29, 2025 at 11 am with a visitation at 10 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Heber, Arizona.
