Cheryl Lynn Elfering, 74, of Casper WY, passed away on Thursday September 14, 2023, in Casper, WY. Cheryl was born on January 3, 1949, in Rawlins, WY to Frank and Freida Williams. She attended Kelly Walsh High School and was a member of the first graduating class in 1967. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wyoming.
Cheryl was a proud mother and grandmother to her three daughters and six grandchildren. She was a dedicated employee at Qwest for almost 40 years. Cheryl was a proud Wyoming Native who loved animals and the mountains. She rescued tons of stray cats and donated to many animal causes. Cheryl was an advocate for workers’ rights and women’s rights. She served as Executive Vice President and was a lifetime member of CWA 7601. Cheryl was loyal, generous, hardworking, kind, and beautiful. She was a true friend who always wanted to help the lost and less fortunate, and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Cheryl is survived by her daughters, Kim Elfering, Tammy (Brett) Renick, and Lorie (Todd) Fike; grandchildren Donovan (Anna) Johnson, Tearney Lopez, Riley Lopez, Adelaine Fike, Lillian Fike, and Claira Fike; and long-time best friend Kip Rorabaugh.
She is preceded in death by her husband Tom Elfering; parents Frank and Freida Williams; and brother Frank Williams.
Funeral services will be held at Bustard and Jacoby Funeral Home 600 CY Ave, Casper WY on October 21, 2023, at 10:00 am with Reverend Butch Capshaw. Bustard and Jacoby will be handling the funeral arrangements. A reception will follow the service at the Elks Club 108 E. 7th St. Casper, WY 82601.
