Cheryl Kay Gearhart, 83, of Howard, OH, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon, OH.
Cheryl was born April 24th, 1941, in Columbus, OH to Clarence Albert and Thelma Louise {Walters} Coffey. She married Ronald Burton Gearhart on August 6th, 1966.
She was a homemaker and loved to sing in Church and in a Cantata. Before she married Ron she worked at Scioto Downs as a secretary. She was also a telegrapher for TWI. She raised four children with love and discipline (a 2 x 4 that she had a hard time lifting). She sewed from time to time and loved to cook, especially pies (cherry, apple, and others). She sold some of this at the North Market produce. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas, with three trees up at one point. Of course, the kids could not touch anything. She was side by side with Ron on the farm, bringing an amazing, packed lunch, running all the equipment, helping drive delivery trucks and doing anything needed to keep it going. She loved the time she went to Israel and her month trip out west. The redwood trees were so amazing she cried when she saw them.
Cheryl will be deeply missed by her husband; children Maida (Kurt) Saylor, Doug (Julie) Gearhart, Tim (Sheila) Gearhart, Kimberly (Troxell) Grogg; grandchildren Christina, Scott, Stephanie, Brandon, Andrew, Tina, Abagail, Samuel, Sarah, Hannah, Nicole, Macy, Lindsey, Lisa; great-grandchildren Tessa, Jase, Audrey, Lillian, Cana, Miyu, Issac, Anna, Sarah, Gretchen, Samual, Jack, Nathan, Carter, Anderson, Jace, Bennett, Gracelyn, Blake, Brooks, Fawyer and her brother Tom Coffey. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jim Coffey.
Friends may call Friday, September 6th, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Mount Vernon Chapel. Funeral services will be Saturday September 7th at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.
