Cheryl McConnell, 69, of The Canon House, Canonsburg, passed away unexpectedly, Friday May 17, 2024, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born March 26, 1955, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late George E. and Olga E. Delost Svitek. Cheryl was raised Roman Catholic and lived her life in Canonsburg, where she graduated from Canon McMillan High School, class of 1973. She then received a degree as an LPN from the Western Area Vo-Technical School. Cheryl just loved being a grandma. Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Caila Chandler and her husband, Tyrone of Canonsburg; her beloved grandsons, Bishop and Titus Chandler; siblings: G. Dennis (Carolyn) Svitek of Venetia; Mary Lou (Richard) Stillings of Washington, Thomas (Rose Marie) Svitek of Winchester, Va. and John (LuAnn) Svitek of Canonsburg; and several nieces and nephews. At Cheryl's request, all services and interment will be private for her family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home to defray costs for services on the Salandra website. I am so sorry to find out about Cheri's passing. We had a lot of laughs growing up w/ SNPJ and walking up that hill to 5th wing to @ from school & just being ornery. We would see each other every once in awhile & picked up conversing like it was yesterday.
