Cheryl Paradis-Fiedler Obituary

Dr. Cheryl Paradis-Fiedler

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dr. Cheryl Paradis-Fiedler. The daughter of the late Sandy and Hal Paradis, Cheryl was born December 26,1966, in Chicago, IL.

Raised in Downers Grove she attended Downers Grove South High School. Cheryl received her Bachelor of Science degree from Loyola University Chicago graduating Cum Laude and was a member of the premedical honor society Alpha Epsilon Delta. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Loyola Stritch School of Medicine and was a member of the medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha. There she met the love of her life and soulmate, Dr John Fiedler. They married May 14,1993, and she went on to complete residency training in OB/GYN at the University of Michigan.

In 1997, they relocated to Saint Charles, IL, where she joined Dr Han and certified nurse midwife, Mary Traub with Fox Valley Women's Healthcare-presently Midwest Center for Women's HealthCare (MCWHC). This was the start of a very illustrious career. Cheryl was a very talented surgeon and welcomed many babies into the world. Her knowledge, compassion and calming demeanor were always welcomed and reinforced her mantra 'never let them see you sweat.' Cheryl held many additional positions including member of the ethics committee, medical staff professionalism committee, OB/GYN department assistant chief and department chief, Medical Care Evaluation steering committee and board member of MCWHC. She was the senior partner helping build MCWHC to what it is today.

Cheryl and John raised 2 wonderful sons, JT and Nate. She adored her sons immensely; they were her world.

Cheryl was very talented and well rounded, a professional multitasker, an avid reader participating in many book clubs, liked to exercise and stay fit, enjoyed bicycle pub crawls and tolerated the yearly walks around Lake Geneva, cherished Friday Afternoon Happy Hour with her girlfriends during Covid, loved to travel most recently hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, enjoyed stay at home movie nights and spending time with family and friends whatever the reason or cause.

Cheryl had a constant sparkle in her eye, radiated joy, was accepting of all especially the underdog, compassionate and giving of her time and talents and demanded well deserved attention when she spoke.

Cheryl had a very rare, aggressive form of Cutaneous T cell Lymphoma (CTCL). She accepted the battle and fought like the warrior she was. She beat death several times and had a successful stem cell transplant on May 21- wonderful, matched cells donated by her sister, Pam. During her weakened immune system post-transplant, she succumbed to an overwhelming infection. She is very appreciative to her sister, Pam for giving her a chance, her sister-in-law, Sharon for dropping all obligations and being by her side throughout her battle and numerous family and friends who drove her to appointments, spent time in Houston and locally in the hospital and provided time, support, prayers and love.

Preceded in death by her mother, Sandy, survivors include her husband, John; her BOYZ, JT and Nate; her father, Hal; sister, Pam (Tom) Beyer, brother, Todd (Kathy) Paradis; sister-in-law, Susan Fiedler, sister-in-law, Sharon (Tim) Sanders, brother-in-law, Jim (Kim) Fiedler; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers and in Cheryl's memory donations may be made to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Services will be private.

Dr. Paradis was a great doctor! She brought my younger daughter Sophia to this world in 2013 and then brought my son Philipp in to the world in 2014. She helped us a lot! We had great experiences with her, we felt so blessed to have her as our doctor! When we heard she was sick and getting treatment, we were praying for her, we prayed that she could overcome the illness and back to working and continue help and inspire people around her, when we heard she passed away, our hearts are broken! We told Sophia and Philipp this sad news, told them the Doctor who first touch you and hand you to mom went yo heaven now, and we should always remember her name is Dr. Cheryl Paradis Fiedler! We will never forget you!

Medical Students at the Loyola Stritch School of Medicine rotate on the clinical services. I met her when she rotated on Surgery on my service. From the first day of her rotation I could tell that she was on her work. She came prepared each day to present her patients she was assigned to completely with symptoms, examination and lab results. She came in the early morning made her rounds on the patients and get ready to assist at Surgery by 7.30 am. For this I gave her a honors grade. She turned into a very successful physician in Ob/Gyn. It is cruel that she passed away at a young age. Those of us who knew her will mourn her passing all the days of our lives.

Although I did not know Dr. Cheryl Paradis-Fiedler, when I read her obituary, my heart went out to her for her struggle with CTCL. May her beautiful soul rest in peace. May her family and friends find comfort in her love, the joy she spread, and the memories she shared with all of you. I lost my mom to CTCL several years ago. It's horrible not only for the patient, but for loved ones that witness it. Peace be with you.
