Cheryl Ann Payne, age 80, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at the Poppen Residence of Harbor Hospice. She was born July 4, 1945 in Muskegon to Raymond and Florence (Kesteloot) Nicolai and lived all of her life in the area. Cheryl worked as a secretary for Reith-Reilly and later worked over 25 years as a secretary for the City of Norton Shores Street Department before retirement. On September 19, 1995, she married Alan "Al" Bohland and he preceded her in death on January 25, 2016. Survivors include three children, Bill (Marie) Payne, Carl Payne, Lori Smith; eleven grandchildren, Ce Celia Payne, Steffani Beckem, Kayla Smith, Kai Smith, Adam Payne, Ryan Payne, Eric Payne, Aaron Payne, Sarah Payne, Thomas Payne, Lucas Payne; ten great grandchildren, two sisters, Yvonne Petersen, B Zimmer-Birdsall; and special friends, Jan and Nancy. She was preceded in death by her husband Alan, her parents, and brother, Raymond Nicolai. In keeping with Cheryl's wishes, there will be no public services.
