Cheryl Ann Rawdon, beloved mother, sister, and cherished educator, peacefully passed away on December 19, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on June 13, 1957, in Dallas, Texas, she spent her life dedicated to teaching and nurturing those around her, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of her students and colleagues at Winnsboro Independent School District.
Cheryl devoted 31 years of her life to the field of education, inspiring young minds with her passion for learning and her unwavering support. Even after her retirement, her love for teaching continued as she served as a substitute teacher for an additional 10 years, remaining a beloved figure in the community.
Beyond her commitment to education, Cheryl was a warm and caring mother to her daughter, Meagan Howard, and a doting grandmother to her two grandchildren, Jacorria and Tristian Howard. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life-reading, writing, and knitting. In fact, she was working on a children's book at the time of her illness, showcasing her creativity and love for storytelling. Cheryl was also a devoted companion to her beloved cat, Tedi, who brought her comfort and joy.
Cheryl is survived by her daughter Meagan, her brother Bill Rawdon, and her grandchildren, Jacorria, Tristian, and Trishelle. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, remembered for her kindness, wisdom, and her joyful spirit.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Billy Rawdon and Carol Rawdon and her beloved son-in-law, Tarrell Howard.
A graveside service will be held on December 23, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Liberty Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Texas. Prior to the service, a visitation will take place at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Cheryl will be laid to rest in the tranquil embrace of the land she loved.
