Cheryl Rivers

Cheryl Elizabeth Rivers, 73 years old of Roslindale, passed away after extended illness on Thursday August 10, 2023. Visitation will be 10:00 am Saturday August 19, 2023 at Roslindale Baptist Church, 52 Cummins Hwy, Roslindale, Massachusetts. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday August 19, 2023 at Roslindale Baptist Church with the Pastor Lee Boddie Sr., officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Michael's Cemetery. Arrangements are by Brady- Fallon Funeral Home. Cheryl was born in Boston to Luther Lyttle and Barbara Tavares on October 9, 1949. She was raised in early life and was a daughter to her Godparents the late Richard Wilson and wife Sheila of Cambridge. She went to school in Boston. She graduated from Dorchester High School. She married the love of her life, Samuel Martin Rivers on August 5, 1968 in Boston, Massachusetts. She was homemaker who provided loving care to her family until she became ill. She was a longtime member of Roslindale Baptist Church where she served as a Trustee and head of the Hospitality Ministry
for many years. Cheryl loved music and reading. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, and embroidery. Cheryl is preceded in death by her mother Barbara Tavares, father Luther Lyttle, mother-in-law Lulu Irene Bigger, brother Wardell "Butch" Loatman and wife Hyacinth, sister Saundra Tavares, sister Barbara Jean Tavares, and
niece Saundra "Digemm" Tavares. Cheryl is survived by her husband Samuel Rivers, daughter Tonya Andrews and ex-husband Anthony, son Michael Rivers and wife Alanna, son Jaison Rivers, step-daughter Rhonita Hargrow and husband Jerome, sister Pamela Brimage and husband Omega, sister Donna "China" Tavares and wife Kim Sheers, sister Wanda Brower and husband Joe, sister Renee Tavares, brother Donald Tavares and wife Suezanne, brother Daryl Tavares, brother
Scott Tavares, sister-in-law Patricia Bigger, brother-in-law Frederick Bigger and wife Dora, granddaughter Cheryl Andrews and fiancé Lavert Bradshaw, granddaughter Chantel Andrews, granddaughter Brianna Rivers, grandson Michael Rivers, granddaughter Chenita Carruthers, granddaughter Julyanna Hargrow, granddaughter Jheryn Hargrow, grandson Jerome Hargrow Jr. Also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, family, and friends.
