Cheryl Ann Holloway-Robinson, 77, a gifted and passionate writer whose words touched countless lives, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025.
Born on February 24, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, Cheryl’s lifelong love of literature became the foundation of a remarkable career. She was an award-winning journalist and writer-editor for the Federal Government, retiring in 2006 to fully embrace her calling as an author. Her retirement marked the beginning of a prolific literary journey, including her acclaimed work A Forgotten Negro League Star: A Personal Look at Al Burrows, a deeply personal and historical tribute. Cheryl also authored several beloved titles such as the Cougar Tales Series, A Sisterhood of Women Living Life, and The Bane Bath Salts, each reflecting her vibrant imagination and commitment to storytelling.
Cheryl’s legacy lives on through her devoted family: her daughter Anjanette (Michael) Montano; her brother William (Deborah) Holloway; her nephews Kenny and Rodney Holloway; her grandchildren Heather (Soco) Johnson, Robert Harrison, Julius (Alexandria) Harrison, Marissa Montano, Marisela Montano, and Marianna Montano; and her great-grandchildren Dorian & Avery Johnson, and Kimera and Messiah Harrison.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Barbara Holloway, and her eldest daughter, Nichelle King.
In accordance with Cheryl’s wishes, no memorial service will be held. Instead, her family invites all who knew her to uplift her memory in their hearts and prayers. May her words continue to inspire, and may her spirit live on in every page she captured.
