St. George, Utah – Cheryl Jones Runolfson, age 73, returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father on May 17, 2025, in Orderville, Utah, while on a family vacation, surrounded by love.
Cheryl was born on September 7, 1951, in St. George, Utah, to Beverly Bunker Jones and Trenton Hulet Jones, and raised with deep roots in the close-knit communities of Enterprise and Parowan.
Cheryl was a bright and spiritual soul who graduated from Parowan High School in 1969. She went on to earn her degree from Provo Technical College (now Utah Valley University) in 1971, beginning a life rich in both career and connection.
On June 18, 1988, she married Lynn Runolfson in the St. George, Utah Temple. Though they later divorced, their friendship endured.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cheryl's love of sacred music filled the hearts of many as she led the music in both Sacrament meetings and Primary for years. Her testimony, kindness, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on those who knew her.
Cheryl's professional life was just one expression of her ability to connect with people. She worked at Zion's Bank and several other banks, then SkyWest Airlines and in retail. She greeted all of her coworkers and customers with enthusiasm and found a special joy in her final job at Hart's Gas Station, where she greeted familiar faces and made new friends every day.
She adored her family deeply. Cheryl is survived by her loving siblings: Eric (Laurie) Jones of Enterprise, Joyce Eardley of St. George, and Carylee (Ross) Staheli of West Jordan; and her dear sister-in-law, Lois Jones of Washington. She was a beloved aunt and great aunt to many nieces, nephews, and their children, each of whom she cherished like her own. Her heart was big enough for everyone, and she made each person feel like the most important person in the room.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Trenton and Beverly Jones; her oldest brother, Erle Jones; and her brother-in-law, Kim Eardley.
Cheryl loved music, the outdoors, camping, and most of all-time with her family. She was also devoted to her beloved fur babies, Malia, Talia, and Frank, who were constant companions and sources of comfort and joy.
Her supportive presence, laughter, and love will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.
A viewing will be held on Friday, May 30,2025 from 6:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at the River Ridge Chapel, 2434 East Riverside Drive, St. George, with a viewing from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., and services beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the Enterprise City Cemetery, 501 East 100 North, Enterprise, Utah.
