Cheryl Ann Schunke, first born child of Lauren E. and Lorna S. Hanson Schunke, was born on February 11, 1949, in Rochester, MN. She died on January 19, 2025, at Rochester East Health Services.
Growing up, Cheryl was active in ARC. She enjoyed yearly family fishing trips to Northern Minnesota. As an adult, she also enjoyed trips to visit family in GA and AZ.
From an early age, Cheryl loved working on puzzles, listening to music and singing along with old familiar songs.
She was a long-time client at PossAbilities in Rochester. She enjoyed the activities there as well as close friendships with staff and other clients. Cheryl lived at Butters House (Hiawatha Homes) for many years before moving to Rochester East in October. Cheryl was a lifelong member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester.
Cheryl had tons of charm, a great smile and an endearing sense of humor. She loved people and socializing. She gave great hugs and high-fives.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her grandparents and her father, Lauren. She is survived by her mother, Lorna; sister Barbara; brothers Robert (Kim) and James (Nancy); and her two nieces Linzie (Brandon) and Alexis.
