Cheryl Sjoberg, a beacon of intelligence, love, and selflessness, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, at the age of 80. Born on May 21, 1944, in Wichita, Kansas, Cheryl was a woman whose life was defined by her dedication to her family, her career, and her community.
Cheryl's educational journey was marked by her unwavering commitment to learning and service. After graduating from Bristow High School, she pursued her passion for healthcare, obtaining her LPN from Drumright Central Tech. Her thirst for knowledge didn't stop there; she went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Langston University and a master's degree from Oklahoma State University. Cheryl's professional life was a testament to her caring nature, as she worked diligently for Cushing Regional Hospital as a Nurse and later served as a Director at Valley Hope, touching countless lives with her expertise and compassion.
Family was the cornerstone of Cheryl's world. She is survived by her loving son, Jeff Sjoberg; her cherished grandchildren, Shyla Young and Jeff Sjoberg Jr.; her devoted sister, Christine Barrett; her ex-husband, Leonard Sjoberg; her adored nephews, Shane and Shawn Barrett, and a special friend, Linda Johnson. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Beaulah Dowdy, who instilled in her the values of kindness and generosity that she carried throughout her life.
Cheryl's interests were a reflection of her nurturing spirit. She found joy in taking care of others, working tirelessly in her profession, and raising her family alongside her sister, Christine. Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of love and dedication, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. A viewing will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Euchee Valley Memorial Park.
