Cheryl L. Steward

On Thursday, February 12, 2026, we lost an angel, Cheryl Louise Steward, at Salem Memorial Hospital in Salem, New Jersey, after a brave and progressive battle with cancer. She was born on September 10, 1964, in Bridgeton, New Jersey, to the late Elizabeth Louise Fowler Holmes and Nathaniel Holmes, and she attended schools throughout the Bridgeton system.

Cheryl was a devoted homemaker. She had five children. She loved watching soap operas, cheering for her favorite football team, the Baltimore Ravens, and listening to oldies jams. Her favorite colors were lavender and the color of her birthstone for September, which also reflected her warm and vibrant spirit.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Steward; her children: Latoya, Kiara, Natia (Tuumaa) Cooke, Donald, and K-Shawn; her sister, Michelle (Archie) Clark, and brother, Nathaniel Holmes; her father, Nathaniel (Shirley) Holmes Jr.; her mother (the late) Elizabeth Louise Fowler Holmes, 13 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and her extended family, including cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Cheryl will be laid to rest at Fernwood Cemetery in Shiloh, New Jersey. Her love, kindness, and dedication to her family will forever be remembered.
