Cheryl Stokes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel - Columbia on Jan. 19, 2026.
Cheryl (Walden) Wilson-Stokes, 57, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, at Boone Hospital Center, following a hard-fought battle with lung cancer. Cheryl faced her illness with strength, courage, and determination.

Cheryl was born on September 25, 1968, to Loretta Stoneberger and Milton Walden. She is survived by her fiancé, Brian Huskey, whom she loved dearly; her sons, Bradley Weldon and Brandon Weldon; her stepdaughters, Diamond Stokes and Rayven Stokes; her stepson, Willie Jackson Stokes, Jr.; and her six beloved grandchildren, Kaylin, Gavin, Evan, Kadyn, Silas, and Willondra. She is also survived by her mother, Loretta Spires; her sister, Cathy Drew; her brother, David Walden and his wife, Jennie; along with many other beloved family members and friends, including her cherished nieces, Camry and Danielle, whom she loved to spoil.

Cheryl spent 26 years working for Watlow Electric Manufacturing, where she made many special friends whom she considered family. Her dedication, kindness, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of working alongside her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willie Stokes; her father, Milton Walden; her grandmother, Lettie (Aubrey) Wilson; and her grandfather, Jewell Stoneberger.

Cheryl enjoyed traveling, camping, thrifting, and boating with friends and family. She especially loved spoiling her grandchildren and nieces, finding joy in making them smile and creating lasting memories. Her warmth, generosity, and laughter will be deeply missed.

Because of weather concerns for January 24th, the family has decided to move services to Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel, 1610 North Garth Avenue, Columbia, MO, with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. and the service following at 3:00 p.m.
