Cheryl McCord Summers (78), 9/21/1946- 8/11/2025

After a dignified battle with Alzheimer's disease, Cheryl McCord Summers passed peacefully at home with her family on August 11, 2025. She was born September 21, 1946 in Memphis, TN to Lee and Anne McCord.

Cheryl enjoyed late childhood and adolescence in Birmingham, AL. After graduating from Miss Howard's School for Girls in 1964, she moved back to Memphis to attend Memphis State University where she became an active member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. In 1967, she met her husband-to-be Richard (Rick) Boyce Summers and shortly thereafter earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.

As she began her teaching career in the Memphis City Schools, Rick and Cheryl were married and blessed with three boys–Britt, Blake, and David. She diligently served her family as a loyal wife and loving mother. She also very much loved her nine grandchildren who affectionately called her ""Mimi."" Known as a genuinely ""sweet"" person, Cheryl was a friend and encourager to many. As a follower of her Lord Jesus Christ, Cheryl was often in prayer for her beloved and was a faithful member at Ridgeway Baptist Church and later Germantown Baptist Church, where she often volunteered in children's ministries.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Barrett and Beatrice Anne McCord, and is survived by her husband of 58 years, Richard Boyce Summers, her sister Sherron Lynn (Mike) Wilcheck of Piperton, TN, her sons Richard Barrett Summers, Jonathan Blake Summers (Corinne), and David Brandon Summers (Heather), all of Memphis, and also her grandchildren, Lydia Flinn (Connor), Barrett Summers, Beatrice (""Bes"") Summers, Ella Summers, June Summers, Asher Summers, Mathon Parker, Nealy Parker. and Owen Parker.

Her family will host a visitation from 11:30-1:00 pm on Friday, August 22, 2025, with a funeral service to follow at Ridgeway Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
