Cheryl Lynn Tate, 63, went to her heavenly and eternal home on August 15, 2024. Cheryl was born on August 25, 1960, in Fargo, North Dakota to Leonard Sr. and Betty (Clark) Wahl. Cheryl graduated from Mayville-Portland, ND. Cheryl was a free-spirited person and loved the outdoors. It was evident because most of her life, she raised horses, goats, calves, chickens, cats, and dogs. Cheryl enjoyed life to its fullest and was never afraid to try something new. Her smile could light up a room and her laugh was contagious. She was very skilled and enjoyed many activities sewing, gardening, crochet, handy with a hammer, and thoroughly enjoyed giving the things she made as gifts to people. She will be best remembered as "giving the shirt off her back if you needed it". Cheryl's heart was big, and she was always willing to help someone if they needed it. Her biggest fulfillment was to be with her adorable two granddaughters Maddie and Ashley. They were the light of her life. Cheryl had a special relationship with her daughter and granddaughters. They all loved animals. They competed in 4-H, had their animals at grandma's farm, and together they did chores, practiced preparing and showing the animals, and taking care of the animals. This was Cheryl's greatest joy to be on the farm with them. Another blessing came in March 2024, her first grandson, Tyler. He quickly stole her heart, and she cherished every moment spent with him.
Cheryl spent most of her work life working at Bonita's Pizza in Hatton, ND. She worked as the plant manager that was owned by her parents. Cheryl was very gifted in her work life and took great pride in running the business with her parents. She treasured the employees she worked with. In her free time, Cheryl and her mom loved to play BINGO, attend food shows, and together with her sisters and daughter, went on a "girl's trip" from time to time. In her retirement, she moved to Kansas to be with her daughter and family. This truly was her best life and she always felt grateful to be close to them.
Cheryl is survived by daughter, Nicole (Robert) and grandchildren Maddie, Ashley, and Tyler Hardwick of Bazine, KS; mother, Betty Wahl, of Fargo, ND; brother, Leonard Jr. (Josie) Wahl, of Davenport, IA; sisters, Kim (Mike) Pladson of Rochert, MN, Kathy (Matt) Klath of Portland, ND and many nieces and nephews. Cheryl is preceded in death by her father, Leonard Wahl Sr.
Nicole and her family extend their heartfelt gratitude for any gesture of comfort and support you provided during this time. Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.
