Cheryl Theresa Wynocker

Cheryl Theresa Wynocker arrived in heaven on October 9, 2025. Born to Sparky and Ann DiBenedetto, she learned the importance of family at an early age. Cheryl graduated from St. Raphael, Magnificat High School, and The Ohio State University, where she was an active member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. Cheryl met the love of her life, Larry Wynocker, at the 1969 Rose Bowl during college. Together, they shared 54 years of marriage and raised three children and eight grandchildren who forever will remember her as a wonderful, loving, and devoted mother and grandmother; Mason (Erica) Wynocker, Michael (Kira) Wynocker, and Anne (Tim) Pugliese; grandchildren Bella, Vienna, Drew, Thalia, Nadia, Brogan, Leah and Katelyn. She is also survived by her siblings Patti (Malcolm), David (Karen), Tony (Amanda), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who cherished her. Cheryl dedicated much of her life to helping others, starting as a teacher in the Warren, Ohio school district. Her extensive community involvement included leadership roles such as President of Fairview Hospital's Junior Board and the Bay Village Junior Women's Club. She chaired fundraisers like Tower Treasures at St. Ignatius and volunteered with The Make-A-Wish Foundation and Community West Foundation. Notably, Cheryl initiated CPR training programs for adults and Bay Village City Schools and was a driving force behind the Gift of Life Committee supporting Fairview Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Her outstanding community contributions earned her the Cleveland Clinic's Community Service Award in 2011. Cheryl enjoyed spending time with family and friends, including vacations to Boca Raton and Pelican Bay, ski trips to Colorado, and company trips that took her and Larry all over the world. She cherished friendships formed at Avon Oaks and Westwood Country Clubs and loved hosting social gatherings such as bridge groups and holiday parties. Cheryl's legacy is marked by her passion for service and the meaningful relationships she developed throughout her life. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 14, at St. Raphael Church in Bay Village, with private interment at Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may call at McGorray-Hanna Funeral Home in Westlake, located at 25620 Center Ridge Road, on Monday, October 13, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association or The Village Project in Bay Village.
