Cheryle Ferch Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rannells Funeral Home - Hamlet Chapel on Jan. 13, 2026.
Cheryle J. Ferch, a sweet, loving, and kind-hearted lady who was deeply devoted to her family and community, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026, in her home. She was born on February 28, 1936, in Starke County to the late Charles and Lowaine (Miser) Stanton and was 89 years old at the time of her passing.

Cheryle was a retired bank teller with the former Hamlet State Bank, where she was known for her friendly smile and caring nature. On June 18, 1955, she married the love of her life, Luther Ferch, who preceded her in death. Together they shared many years of love and companionship.

She was a faithful member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and lived a life of service to others. Cheryle was especially proud of her many years serving the community as Starke County Treasurer. She also served on the Davis Township Advisory Board, was a member of Starke County Crime Stoppers, and was extremely active in the Democratic Party. Cheryle never met a stranger and was known for her gentle spirit, compassion, and willingness to help anyone in need.

Above all else, Cheryle cherished her family and the time spent with those she loved most.

She is survived by her son, Jan Ferch; her granddaughter, Autumn Ferch; and her sisters, Gloria (David) Stephani, Carla Eggert, and Margo (Ron) Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Luther.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. CST on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. CST on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, with additional visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
