Chesley Simmons (Ches) was born on December 8th, 1969, in Jacksonville, Florida where he grew up and resided n the Avondale area. He Loved his Familia, Puerto Rican culture, cooking, art, photography, music, the outdoors; including gardening, playing golf, fishing, camping and concerts. His passion was helping others; especially those struggling with mental illness, addictions and homelessness, as he knew and shared in their agony.
Ches accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church in downtown Jacksonville. He received his formal education at Robert E. Lee high school. After graduation, he entered into the military service as an Army Ranger and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. Following his service, he continued his education at Santa Fe community college in Gainesville and then at the University of North Florida where he majored in Accounting. Ches began work in his career field, but then worked at TPC, tending to the greens, bringing him closer to his favorite hobby; his love of golf. He then decided to start his own business called New Life Lawn Care. He spent the next twelve years as a Manager at Publix, Winn Dixie and First Choice Medical Supply Warehouses. At the age of "33", he met the love of his life, Denise to whom he married on August 7, 2004. They had two children, Jude (17) and Bella (16) who he adored.
Ches departed this life here on Earth on Friday, July 29, 2022 from Cardiomyopathy and heart failure at the young age of 52. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Simmons Jr., beloved Grandparents on both sides of his Ramos and Simmons Family.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Denise Cherie Simmons; two children, Jude River and Isabella "Bella" Rain; mother, Marta (Ramos) Bowling; Step Father, Benjamin Bowling; brother, Wesley Simmons; niece, Brooke Simmons; nephew, Chesley Simmons; as well as three sisters, Christi Garrett (niece Mandy), Lisa Gilberstadt (nephews David, Derek and Cameron) Evelyn Mundy (niece Amber & nephew Nick); and a host of other aunts, uncle's, cousins, relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at Integrity Funeral Home and Cremations located at 1662 Stockton Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32204 this Saturday, August 6, 2022. Viewing and visitation will be from 5:30-6:30PM and the service is from 6:30-7:30PM. All are welcome although the seating will be limited to the ones that require it. Please come as you are. He wanted this to be easy and relaxed. Thank you all for your Love, Prayers and support which have soothed our broken hearts.
