Chester D. Clute Jr., age 77, of Battle Creek passed away on April 21, 2025, at his residence. He was born on April 5, 1948, in Battle Creek, the son of Chester and Margaret (Cook) Clute Sr. Chester was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1966, then went on to attend Kellogg Community College. Chester was previously employed as an Inventory Accountant for Jacobson’s Department Store for 27 years before their closing. He then went on to work for Denso Manufacturing from which he retired in 2010. Chester enjoyed bowling and playing softball. He was an avid sports fan. It was an annual father daughter tradition to attend a Michigan State football or Detroit Tigers game. You could often find Chester at his favorite local hang out, the Dolphin Lounge with a crossword puzzle watching sports. Chester was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughters; Marsha (Derek Mihuc) Burks of Brownstown Township, MI, Barbara (Matthew) Krzyzanski of Battle Creek, Sarah (Henry) Lumbard of Kalamazoo, brother, Richard (Susan) Clute of Front Royal, VA, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 am, Friday, May 2, 2025, at the funeral home, Pastor Rob Schwartz officiating. Interment to follow the funeral service at Memorial Park Cemetery with a luncheon at the Dolphin Lounge immediately thereafter. Memorial contributions may be made to MSU Alumni Association.
