Chieu Van Tran, 71, of Windsor, beloved husband of Mai Kim Tran, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024. Born in Saigon, Vietnam, son of the late Thu Trung Tran and Nhan Thi Huynh, he was raised there where he served in the Vietnamese Navy and after the Viet Cong took over the country he spent 5 years as a POW. He immigrated to the United States in 2004 coming to Windsor. He had been employed by the Red Thread Company of East Hartford installing commercial building systems for 20 years before his retirement. Chieu enjoyed music, singing and playing his guitar. He was a big fan of both the UCONN Men's and Women's basketball teams. He also spent many hours in his vegetable garden. Besides his wife Mai, he leaves a daughter Haley Tuyet Tran and her husband Eric Dang of Windsor Locks; his son Tin Trung Tran and his wife Hoang Nguyen of Windsor; and a grandson Hoang Nguyen; and a brother Dung Thanh Tran in Saigon, Vietnam. His family will receive friends Friday June 21, 2024, from 4-8 PM at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor. A Buddhist Funeral Service will begin Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 1:30 PM followed by Cremation in the Mt. Laurel Crematory at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home. Donations received in memory of Chieu Van Tran will be donated by his family to help the poor people in Vietnam.
