Icelyn Elson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carmon Windsor Funeral Home on Feb. 6, 2026.
Icelyn W. Elson, lovingly known to everyone as "Sweetie," was born on May 2, 1937 to the late Brenetta Kelly and Percival Wilson, in Linstead, St Catherine, Jamaica W.I. She passed away on January 18, 2026, at the age of 88, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Throughout her life, Icelyn was known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support for her family and friends. She touched many hearts with her generosity and gentle spirit.Icelyn immigrated to the United States in 1965 and worked diligently at Pratt & Whitney from 9/22/1979 and finally retired in Sept 2017.

She was fun-loving to her core and had a natural way of making life feel lighter just by being in the room. She laughed easily, danced whenever music was near, and embraced joy in even the smallest moments. Sweetie had a curious heart and a love for adventure. She especially loved traveling to Europe and other unique places, soaking in new sights and experiences. Travel wasn't just about the destination for her - it was about discovery, stories, and sharing what she learned with the people she loved. Her grandchildren were the center of her world. She took great pride in exposing them to new experiences, teaching them about life beyond their everyday routines, and encouraging them to stay curious and open-minded. Time spent with them was treasured, and her love for them was deep, constant, and unmistakable. Sweetie also had a playful side that surprised and delighted many. She enjoyed roller derby and wrestling, passions that reflected her spirited personality and her appreciation for fun, excitement, and a little flair.

Icelyn is survived by her beloved Children: Karen Chung, Patrick Murphy and his wife Madge Murphy, She was a devoted Grandmother: to Antwan Sr. Kimesha, Jamahl and wife Jazlyn, Javaun, Shaniqua, Kendra, Monika, Romario, Ronaldinho and Romelo. Her grandchildren were a constant source of pride and happiness, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Great grandchildren: Geoffrey Jr, Antwan Jr, Jace, Samuel, Jazz, Noelle, and Ryan. Great-Great Grand: Gelani and Gelaih; and a host of Nephews and Nieces. She was predeceased by her four Siblings: Joyce Cordner, Harold McNiel, Ruby John, and Leonard Wilson. Daughter: Andrea Morris. and three Grandchildren: Geoffrey Murphy Sr., Aja Murphy, and Xenia Chung.

Above all else, Sweetie will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the joy she brought into the lives of others, and the unforgettable energy that made her who she was. Her legacy lives on in the laughter she sparked, the lessons she shared, and the love she wrapped around her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Icelyn's remarkable life and the lasting impact she made on those around her.

The Family would like to personally thank those that assisted with her care including: Dawn, Janet and Mitsy who are considered close friends of the family and assisted with Icelyn's care every step of the way. Also a special thank you to Ms. Claudia with Visiting Angels Agency.
