Chip David Gaines

Chip (David) Gaines, age 65, of Georgetown, MA passed away peacefully January 20, 2026 at his home.
He was born in Danbury, CT on July 22, 1960; he graduated from Newtown High School in 1978. After graduating, Chip worked as a semi trailer truck driver. He eventually ended up at Federal Express and worked there for many years, thoroughly enjoying his coworkers and delivery customers. He also worked for Mitchell Oil as an oil tanker driver and home delivery person. He was a very social person and enjoyed all of the many friends he made on his delivery routes for both of these companies. Once he retired, he moved to a lake community in Georgetown, MA.
His favorite thing to talk about was cars; he attended many car shows near & far. In addition, he loved to race his Dodge Challenger at local race tracks including the New England Dragway in Epping, NH. He loved helping and taking care of his loved ones and friends.
Chip was the kind of person who was a friend to everyone he met. easy smile, quick wit, great sense of humor, curiosity of people and things around him. He had a contagious laugh which made everyone smile. He had a Best of all was the twinkle in his blue eyes.
Chip will be dearly missed; he was preceded in death by his parents David Lee Gaines and Joan (Howes) Gaines and his sister Tami (Gaines) LaValla. He is survived by his sisters, Susan Gaines Mykulowycz and her husband George of Boxford, MA and Tracy Lee Gaines and her husband Keith Winterbower of Newport Beach, CA; his brother-in-law George LaValla of Taylors, SC; his nieces Katie LaValla and her husband Henry Bocanegra of West Granby, CT; Lauren Winterbower of Newport Beach, CA and his nephews Nicholas Mykulowycz of Los Angeles, CA, Patrick Mykulowycz of Manchester, NH, Kris LaValla and his wife Danielle of Spartanburg, SC; and Kane LaValla and his wife Julia of Greer, SC. He also survived by his grand nieces Alexia LaValla of West Granby, CT and Sophia LaValla of Greer, SC and grand nephew Julian Bocanegra of West Granby, CT.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Sunday, February 1st from 11AM to 1PM at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St. Bradford. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Georgetown Police, Fire & Ambulance Departments - who always treated Chip with respect & kindness.
