Chloe Tilley Shaver, 95, of High Point, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
Chloe was born on October 26, 1929, in Iredell County, NC to the late Elva Jordan Tilley and the late Washington R Tilley. She was married to the love of her life, Jerry Gilbert Shaver, in 1948. They moved to High Point and lived an exceptionally happy life together for 52 years until Jerry preceded her in death in 2000. Chloe was also preceded in death by her brother, Ray Tilley; two sisters, Wilma Olive and Karen Morrison.
She is survived by her children, Brent Shaver (Peggy) of Holden Beach, Tony Shaver (Ann) of Holden Beach, Kim Garner (Doug) of Denton, and Julie Shoaf (Jim) of Welcome, as well as her brother, Ken Tilley (Linda) of Hickory. Chloe was blessed with 12 grandchildren, Steven Shaver, Jordan Shaver, Jay Shaver, Christopher Shaver, Austin Shaver, Jackson Shaver, Mary Katherine Baker, Caroline Stephens, Allison Byrd, Gilbert Shoaf, Lauren Poindexter, Wesley Shoaf; and 3 step-grandchildren, Donald Garner, Fallon Maness, and Dexter Garner. Chloe was also blessed with 18 great grandchildren, and 5 step-great grandchildren.
Our beloved Chloe navigated all the peaks and valleys of life for 95 blessed years, with a grace and determination that was full of spirit, love, and purpose. She was a fiercely devoted matriarch whose love for her family knew no bounds. A true lover of nature, Holden Beach was her sanctuary, where she found peace and joy in the beauty of God's creation. Her fiery spirit and wit were matched only by her boundless generosity and selfless care for others. Chloe worked with Randolph County Schools for nine years where she touched countless lives with her warm welcoming smile. She was a loyal friend and a longtime devoted member at First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her Pennyburn Community playing bingo, chatting over a meal or watching the birds - she always had a friend that adored her close by. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her incredible joy-each smile, each visit, each milestone filling her heart with warmth and pride. She cherished every moment with them, and in return, they loved and adored her deeply. Her presence was a source of comfort and love, and the bond they shared with her was truly special. Whether through a warm meal, a listening ear, or quiet acts of service, she touched countless lives with grace and kindness. Though we will miss her immensely, our hearts are comforted knowing she is now joyfully reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, family, and dear friends. Well done, good and faithful servant.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Josh Barnes officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Epworth room.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to either First United Methodist Church or to the American Heart Association in Chloe's honor.
