CHONG WAN KIM

CLIFTON PARK - The family of Chong Wan Kim, a longtime resident of Baldwin, New York, is saddened to announce his passing on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at the age of 87 years, at his current residence in Clifton Park, New York.

In 1966, he immigrated from Seoul, Korea, to study Chemistry at the University of Kentucky. He went on to be a devoted husband, dedicated father and grandfather, adoring brother, fun uncle and loyal friend. He was a prolific entrepreneur, and was often times, the funniest in the room with an affable personality and an infectious smile.

He is survived by his loving and steadfast wife, MiJae, and his beloved children, Insoo (wife Lonnie), Eunice (husband Lou), and Hae Soo (husband Fredrik). He was the cherished grandfather to his beautiful grandchildren Alex, Taylor, Abby, Olivia, Joey, Stella, Lennart and Viveka, who affectionately called him Habba. And perhaps the most beloved, he leaves behind his grand-pups, Chase and Baxter, and honorary grand-pups Maci and Morris, who counted on Habba for endless kisses, belly rubs, dog treats and ramen!

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Korean Catholic Apostolate, 17 Exchange St, Albany, NY. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. with a mass to follow. All are welcome to A Celebration of Life Luncheon at The Desmond Hotel in Albany upon conclusion of the mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research by visiting https://give.michaeljfox.org/
