Chong Lee Moua, age 79 of Brooklyn Park, MN went to be with our heavenly father in the early morning of February 15, 2025. Chong lived a long and adventurous life and will be missed greatly. She is survived by her husband, Chia Vang, and his sons Silver and Kay Vang, Moua and Mai Vang, Porge and Jamie Vang, Bruce and Lydia Vang, Burt and Haquyen Vang and his daughters Mayly and Toua Xiong, Nancy Vang and Stacy and Israel; also her four sons: Vang and Changmee Moua; Ling and Betty Moua; Micheal Franciso; Alex Franciso and her two daughters; Sia and Eric Hang and Kabo and Reg Williams. Chong also leaves behind a brother, Thong and Gina Lee, Pao Lee and a sister Mai Lee.
Chong was born in Laos on September 6, 1947. Her husband and family immigrated to the United States in the 1980s to Oak Ridge, TN. She accepted the challenge of learning another language and started working towards the American Dream, by first learning how to drive. This was a strong indicator of what she wanted from life. She was a pioneer of sorts. She loved to laugh, be silly at times but also dreamed big. She delighted in the simple things in life such as picnics, social gatherings and holiday gatherings. Her hobbies included, but not limited to needlepoint, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her loved ones. She was an avid gardener and wherever she went – a garden was sure to follow and blossom. Her time on Earth was everything she had dreamed of and more. She truly lived, never knowing where she may land, only following her heart and having faith in all she did. She knew how to live for the moment but also how to save for the future. She was brave enough to step out of the box, inspiring many of us. Her greatest achievement was becoming a Naturalized Citizen. She delighted in having a tight knit family but all the while discovering what the world had to offer. She would always say: be patient, stay close to your family. You must remember to support one another however you can and with whatever you have.
Chong loved deeply and loved so many in her lifetime that she will be missed by many. We were blessed to have her in our lives. We know she is young at heart and dancing to her own drum at the pearly white gates, waiting to hold us in her arms again. We cherish our memories with her and will forever miss her laughs, smiles and silly sense of humor.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, March 23 at Oakwood Funeral Home from 8 AM-3PM. Her final resting place will be at Roselawn Cemetery on March 24 at 10 AM. Please join us in saying our temporary goodbyes to our dear sweet mother, wife, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother until we meet again.
