Chong Suk Sanders, beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, in Anchorage, AK, at the age of 80, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 8, 1944, in South Korea, Chong Suk's journey took from her country to the United States in 1964. Where she lived in multiple states before settling in Anchorage, AK.

Chong Suk's life was a testament to her resilience and the love she held for her family. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Leonard Sanders, with whom she built not just a family but a legacy through their shared entrepreneurial spirit. Together, they owned and operated multiple gas and auto mechanic service stations in Anchorage.

The couple's caring nature extended to their family life, with Chong taking pride in her role as a mother to her daughter, Linda Burke. Her joy only multiplied with the addition of her grandchildren, Candice Delgado, Terrin Korman, Edward Burke III, and Erica Faaaliga, and her eleven great-grandchildren. Each child brought a special light into her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Chong Suk's beliefs guided her through life's challenges and triumphs, providing a foundation of strength and serenity that she shared with all who knew her. Her interests reflected her love for nature and the comfort of home. An avid gardener, she found peace in growing flowers, picking ferns, and foraging for mushrooms, all activities that connected her to the earth. Her love language was cooking for her family and friends. For her, food was more than nourishment- it was joy, connection, and love. As she often said, "food is life."

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Chong will remember her as a woman of generosity, love, and humor. She had an uncanny ability to light up a room with her laughter and to make anyone in her presence feel welcomed. Her funny anecdotes and straightforward advice will be missed.

Chong Suk Sanders lived a life rich in experiences and love. Her legacy will continue to bloom in the lives of those she touched, much like the flowers in her beloved garden. Her spirit and strength will forever be remembered by her family, friends, and the many lives she has impacted through her kindness.
