Chris M. Degener, 56, of Rochester, MN, passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside, on November 27, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Methodist Hospital, after a long battle with lung cancer.
Chris Matthew Degener was born on July 4, 1968, to parents Larry and Janet (Rucker) Degener, in Red Wing, MN. After graduating from Red Wing Highschool in 1987, he attended Minneapolis School of Barbering until 1989, and began his career as a barber. He worked in Lake City Barbershop and later worked with his dad and step-dad for many years at Larry and Dels Barbershop in Red Wing until he took over ownership. Chris retired from barbering about eight years ago, and has since worked for Mayo Clinic. On December 23, 1995, Chris married Jennifer Campbell in Red Wing, where the couple resided until moving to Rochester in 2008. They had two daughters, Hannah and Natalie.
Chris had many hobbies which included fishing, hunting, shopping and grilling. He was also a big animal lover.
Chris is survived by his wife, Jennifer (Campbell) Degener; daughters, Hannah (fiancé Luke Runge) Degener and Natalie (Javin Logan) Degener; parents, Janet Hague and Larry (Irma) Degener; parents-in-law, Joe and Avis Campbell; brothers, Ren Degener and Reed (Julie) Degener; and step-siblings, Tammy (Wade) Strain and Hunter Hague. He is preceded in death by both his paternal and maternal grandparents; and his step-father, Del Hague.
A visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 5-8 pm at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes (5421 Royal Pl. NW Rochester, MN 55901). A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Resurrection Lutheran Church (4520 19th Ave NW, Rochester, MN 55901) with a visitation beginning one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in St. Johns Cemetery in Red Wing, MN.
