Born: April 28, 1931 in Konigsberg, East Prussia
Died: November 25, 2025 in Shorewood, IL
Christa Gier, nee Kraschewski, age 94, passed away peacefully 11-25-2025 while at Ciel Senior Living in Plainfield, IL.
Born 4-28-1931 in East Prussia, Christa and her family fled west to northern Germany during World War 2. Where she later met Ernst A. Gier (Ernie). They were married in 1952.
In 1953 they moved to the Joliet area to be with Christa's family, who moved here a year earlier to start a new life together in America. They were married 69 years, and have lived in Shorewood since 1968.
Christa is survived by her children, Gary (Sheryl) Gier and Timothy (Michelle) Gier, 2 grandchildren Richard and Brian Gier, a brother Manfred (Cathy) Klemm, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death, her parents Karl and Augusta Klemm, brothers Waldemar (Waltraut) Klemm, Siegfried Klemm, Horst (Christa) Klemm, Karl Klemm, sister Hildegard (Rudie) Gierke and a sister in infancy.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A private celebration of life for family and close friends will take place at a later date.
