Christel Halteman

Christel (Royer) Halteman, born May 17, 1945 in Lebanon, PA passed peacefully with family on May 7, 2024, in Lewisburg, PA. Chris is remembered and cherished by family and friends for her grace, humor, kindness, wit, ready smile, and love. Chris is survived by her husband of 56 years, Norman, daughter Rebecca Halteman Kelly (husband Tim, grandchildren Grace, Madi), of Olympia, WA, son Timothy Ryan Halteman (wife Lauren and grandchildren Gabriel, Conor, Natalie, Aleena, Aleem) of Lewisburg, PA, brother Carl Bruce Royer of Mt Gretna (Joan), and a large extended family. She will be sincerely missed by dear friends who were an important part of her life. Parents, Grace Irene Balsbaugh Royer and James Herman Royer preceded her in death.
Chris, a longtime Lancaster County resident, graduated from ELCO High School, and Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing. Chris and Norm met at Lancaster General and married in 1967. Chris was passionate about her faith as demonstrated by her active involvement in Neffsville Mennonite Church for over 50 years. She is remembered for her vibrant and creative endeavors from marvelous foods, quilts, and gardens, to floral designs, parties, clothes, cards, and more. Chris filled her life with learning, reading, travel, music, laughter, nature, dragonflies, quietly giving back to others, and, most treasured, her care for her grandchildren, family, and friends. She leaves behind a deep legacy of her love.
