Christene (Rothwell) Babick, 83, of Battle Creek, Michigan died peacefully at home on Thursday, December 11, 2025. She was surrounded by her family.
Christene was born June 13, 1942, in Pikeville, Tennessee, the oldest of 10 children of Harold Eugene and Buelah (Henderson) Rothwell. She grew up in Pikeville until moving to Battle Creek as a teenager. She earned her GED at the Miller Stone Building. Christene was employed for many years in the food industry with Canteen Services at Kellogg’s. She was also employed for years at American Fibrit and she also worked in housekeeping at the former Community Hospital.
Christene Rothwell and Andrew Lewis Babick were united in marriage on November 16, 1960, in Battle Creek, Michigan. Sadly, Christene was preceded in death by her husband Andrew on January 22, 2020.
Surviving are their children, Cynthia (Johnny) Morris, Treza (Dan) Dilling, Andrew (Traci) Babick, Michael (Tamlin) Babick and Shannon Knight all of Battle Creek. She had 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, several great great-grandchildren; siblings, Charles, Rick, Tony, Brenda and Loretta; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.
In addition to her husband, Christene was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Steve Knight; her parents, several brothers and sisters and her beautiful granddaughter, Kayla Babick.
Christene was a wonderful mother and a very loving and generous person. She was a ball of energy that could never sit still. She loved to cook and bake and care for her family. She also loved being outdoors and working in her yard and garden. Christene will be remembered for her generosity and love of family.
Friends will be received 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2025, at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, in Battle Creek, where a service to celebrate Christene’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2025.
