Leslie Mae (Remington) Percell Haley, 69, of Charlotte, North Carolina and formerly of Battle Creek, Michigan died at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Friday, February 27, 2026.
Leslie was born February 4, 1957, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the daughter of William J. and Beverly Lorraine (Rhoades) Remington. She grew up on the family farm in Prairieville Township and graduated from Gull Lake High School.
Leslie was employed for her mother at Bertine’s Ladies Apparel & Bridal Shop and for her father at Remington’s Car Wash doing clerical and sales. Later Leslie was employed doing data entry in the credit card, banking processing industry and determining benefits for insurance companies.
Leslie was preceded in death by her husband, James Percell on March 20, 2024. Surviving are two sons; Christopher M. (Stacy) Haley of Indian Trail, NC, John W. Haley of Middleville, MI; grandchildren, Maximus W. “Max” Haley, Lucas (Cameron) VanDenBerg, Kryn Haley, Alexander R. Haley; great-granddaughter, Sloane VanDenBerg, another expected soon; her mother, Beverly L. Remington of Grand Rapids; sisters, Linda R. (William J.) Duncan of Frankenmuth, MI, Jeanne M. (Terry) Tobias of Grand Rapids, MI; and several cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.
In addition to her husband, Leslie was preceded in death by her father, Bill Remington; sister, Connie Lorriane Remington; and a great nephew, Parker Rice.
Leslie enjoyed mother earth and working in her flower garden. She redecorated her house numerous times, until she was finally satisfied it was home. She and Jim enjoyed getting dressed up and going to the American Legion parties on Halloween, Kentucky Derby and other holidays. Leslie will be remembered for her beautiful smile, attention to detail and love for her family.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Cressey Cemetery in Prairieville Township (102230 Cressey Rd., Plainwell, MI 49080).
