Christie Ann Shoop

Christie Ann Shoop, age 92, of Gloucester, died at her home on Friday, December 15, 2023. Christie was born on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1931, to the late Harold Leon and Olive Avery Stone Peterson and grew up in St. Davids, Pennsylvania. A graduate of Boston University Sargent College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences in Physical Therapy, Christie worked for many years at Norwood Hospital in Massachusetts as a physical therapist before opening her in-home physical therapy practice to which she devoted her remaining professional years. An active volunteer, she continued her passion for physical therapy at various chapters within the Red Cross, the majority of which were served at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. In addition to her parents, Christie was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Ashton, and daughter, Kerry Ann Breed. Christie is survived by her daughters Kristin Q. Shoop, and Kimberly J. Shoop. Seven grandchildren; Ryan, Andy, Abby, Liam, Ashton, Logan, and Levi. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 23, 2023, in the chapel of Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Inurnment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In memory of Christie, memorial contributions may be made to Riverside Walter Reed Hospice, 7358 Main St, Gloucester VA 23061.
