Christine Ruth Bauman

CHRISTINE RUTH BAUMAN
May 12, 1947 ˜ April 6, 2023

Christine was born, raised and died in Vancouver, WA, where she lived most of her life. Her parents, Gladys Stephens Bauman and Warren H. Bauman, operated the Bauman Store in downtown Vancouver during Christine’s childhood.

Christine graduated from Fort Vancouver High School in 1966, earned a BA in both education & psychology from Western Washington in 1969, and an MS from Portland State University in 1975. She worked in social services for AmeriCorps in Washington, D.C., taught math at Garfield HS in Seattle, Larch Correctional Facility, and at Clark College, where she served as a tenured professor and directed the Tutoring Center.

Christine will be remembered and honored by family and many friends for her high standards, faith and perseverance; including dedication to her students, service organizations, and stewardship of our earth. She loved animals and gardening, art and sewing, travel and entertaining. Christy’s pets, plants, and collections of whimsical and beautiful items created a warm, inviting atmosphere in her home. As requested, a party celebrating Christine’s life is being planned for later this spring.

Christine was kind, honest, reliable, generous, and modest. When asked how she would like to be remembered, Christine responded, “She always did the best she could, and it was good enough.”
