I never met Chris, but on numerous occasions we talked on the phone about contractual issues related to work I do with EPA. She is someone whom I immediately liked and fully trusted. I always enjoyed our calls, which invariably drifted to non-work related issues, at least briefly. Although our paths barely crossed, kind people like Chris leave impressions that last forever. I miss her and wish her family comfort.

Chris has been a wonderful friend who I met at Cranbrook about 14 years ago. I was always amazed by how she managed to work an hour away from home, coach her son's various sports teams, stay on top of all the school projects, volunteer...she did it all and always gave it her all! I honestly believed her sheer determination would be enough to overcome any illness. I will always remember and appreciate her kindness, her willingness to help, the way she made every kid on the teams she coached feel like an important contributor, her positive attitude, her strength and her amazing dedication to her family and everything else she did. My deepest condolences go to her entire family. My heart especially goes out to Jon and Scott who lost their devoted mom way too soon.

(From my post, shared elsewhere)

Thank you all for the many wonderful memories and sentiments regarding Tin's passing.

Things I remember about my sister:
1) She asked for and got an actual pony!
2) She taught me to play catch, and was supremely patient in the process. (Mostly, I think, because she wanted someone to play catch with.)
3) She was always going somewhere I couldn't follow: Japan during high school on the Foreign Exchange program; college at Texas A&M, which seemed so far from Houston; San Francisco on a work-study program. Now this week.
4) She tried a perm once, then went back to Farrah-hair.
5) She was smart as a whip and set the bar high for those who came after.
6) She wasn't scared of anything!
7) She would laugh at a particularly biting joke, but never made one of her own.
8) She loved being outside and active. Tennis, marathons and of course softball.
9) She never let you forget you were loved.
10) She really appreciated David Cassidy.
11) When asked why she indulged a particular whim of one of her children, she said, "Because I can."
12) Even in her last days, weak as she was, she had a warm, peaceful smile for whoever visited.
13) Our last hug and kiss goodbye.

My beautiful sister. The best older sister, who paved the way, set the bar high, and did all the heavy-lifting for my brother and me. She lived her life with a balance of patience, humor, and love. She would go on to face her toughest challenge and last days the same way. And with grace and quiet strength.

She loved her family - the one she came from and the one she would go on to create. Her sons have her strength, intelligence, and wit.

It feels as though any words I use to write about her will never fully capture the complete, amazing, and loving person she was.

Your work here is done, and you did it beautifully, Tin. It is time to rest. Our hearts are broken. We love you and will miss you.

I trained with Christine at Greysteel at 8 am twice a week. She was hesitant at first but rapidly gained strength and confidence. Her smile, her gentle spirit and incredible determination left a tremendous impact on all of us and she is greatly missed.

Christine was one of our fellow athletes. Her grit, determination, and courage were an enormous inspiration to all of us, and her presence in the gym was always a delight. Christine trained hard for as long as she could, and always gave 100%. What a privilege to work with her! She was and is a part of our community. She was our friend, and we loved her, and she will be deeply and sorely missed.

I am so sad to hear about Chris Brunner's passing. I had the pleasure of working with Chris at EPA from 2005-2011. We were cube neighbors and she was like a "work mom" to me in many ways. She always there to guide me, care for my neglected plants, and even help feed me... usually with Costco snacks that her kids no longer cared for. Haha! I could always count on Chris for a good laugh and I am forever grateful for all the anecdotal parenting advice she shared with me over the years. Chris was a bright, one-of-a-kind woman who's legacy will be carried on by her children and everyone who loved her. Rest in peace, my friend.

Can’t put into words how much I will miss my beautiful friend- Christine Marie Brunner. Her son Jon and my son Cole became friends in 1st grade, and have been great friends ever since. She was my ‘go to’ person for everything at Cranbrook since she learned the ropes with her older son. Where do I begin with the memories? The band concerts, the robotics competitions, the drama performances, Brookside, the ceremonies, the graduations, soccer games, tennis, RARA, walking around waiting for archery to end, senior spring break.....and on and on. Right now my heart is broken. You are the strongest person I’ve ever known, you fought valiantly for many years, and now it is time to rest. Whenever I walk around that beautiful campus, I will see you there, and my heart will smile.

My thoughts and prayers are with you...

The angels came and said, It is time,
Don't worry Mom we'll be fine,
You taught us well and done your best,
Now it's time for you to rest.
You did not go alone, for a part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

My sincere condolences. Chris has been an integral part of my work family ever since she started working for EPA, and when I say family, I mean family. Even when she switched to another center, she continued to participate in my center's activities and projects and to bring her gentle, kind, thoughtful and dedicated approach to our work and our relationships. I will sorely miss being able to poke my head around the corner of the office and talk with my friend.
