Christine Reyna Cheek, better known as Memaw. Died at the age of 87 on Saturday, March 28, 2026. She was born in Dallas, TX on November 26, 1938. That is definitely a special day because she shares that birthday with her beautiful great- granddaughter, Madison.
She was happily married to the love of her life, James Floyd Cheek, who preceded her in death in 2021. Anyone who knew them, knew his middle name was Floyd because they heard her yell it at him at any given moment. They celebrated 66 years together. Though neither of them had an education beyond the 8th grade, they managed to move from Texas to California on $38 among four people(one of their favorite stories to tell), have a baby girl, move back to Texas, start a business, and build their own home on 10 acres that was funded by their Model A. They were simply special together.
Christine is survived by her daughter Debbie and son-in-law Randy Richards. Grandson Clint Richards, his wife Crystal, and her three great grandchildren Madison, Macie, and Mason, as well as bonus grandson, Shane Owen and his wife Miranda. She is also survived by her niece Rosemary White and late husband Roy, niece Frances Esquivel and husband Joe.
Christine loved animals-in fact she once threatened to shoot Shane if he kicked her dog…and meant it. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, doing laundry, gardening, and mowing the lawn.
Graveside service for Christine will be Saturday April 4,2026 at Pyle Prairie Cemetery, 14976 County Road 4059, Kemp, TX, 75143.
