Doris Ann Leyva, 85, of Scurry, TX went to be with the Lord on February 1, 2026. Doris was born on November 12, 1940, to Bart and Dorothy Shehee in Kaufman County, TX. Doris grew up and went to school in the Kaufman area. Doris married Art Leyva on July 24, 1976 and they spent a loving 43 years together before he passed away in October 2019. She worked for the Post Office in Scurry for 26 years before retiring; but her most precious time was taking care of her family. Doris enjoyed cooking, with precision execution of the recipes and baking cakes and spending time in her flower beds. She had fun going on trips to gather pecans but would joke about coming home with a Cadillac instead. When she was younger, she would do a little fishing. Doris was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bart and Dorothy, husband Art, and son Scottie Mundie. Those left to cherish her memory are children: Bart Mundie and wife Vickie, Jason Cryer and Jonathan Leyva and wife Amanda, grandchildren: Nicole Mundie, Brandon Mundie, Amber Mundie McCollister and husband Jake, Gabrielle Leyva, Lane Cryer and Jacob Cryer; several great grandchildren, sister: Lola King and husband Bob and Lana Cass and husband Lance; numerous extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
