Christine Marie Delmendo (64), resident of Silverdale since 1987, died in Seattle on June 15th, 2012 at University of Washington Medical Center after a 2-year battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF).

Born January 7th, 1948 in New Orleans, Louisiana, Chris lived in many places growing up, but experienced love at first sight at a dance hall in San Pedro, California in 1970. Six weeks later she married her "Partna" Gerardo "Gerry" Marigza Delmendo and stayed truly, madly, and ridiculously in love until he died of a cerebral aneurysm in 1992.

Life as a Navy wife wasn't always easy, but her keen wit, razor-sharp intelligence, and contagious smile helped her create a loving home at all of the many duty stations they lived in over the years. Chris enjoyed fishing, traveling with her family, listening to pop music of the '50's and 60's, and in the last 10 years of her life her greatest joy was spending as much time as possible with her three beloved grandchildren.

Chris is survived by son Jon Delmendo and daughter-in-law Kimberly (Inabinett) Delmendo, grandchildren Evan Delmendo, Bryce Delmendo, and Taylor Delmendo; brother Ron Wilson, and sister Lynn (Wilson) Draper.

A graveside burial at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Bremerton, Washington will be held on Friday June 22nd, 2012 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask for donations to be made to the American Lung Association in memory of Chris at http://www.lung.org/donate/.
