Christine P Devaney passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025, in Schulenburg, TX.
Chris was born on September 3, 1924, in Providence, Rhode Island to Italian immigrant parents. She was the youngest of 6 children, 4 sisters and 1 brother. Her father died when she was very young, leaving her mother to raise 6 children on her own. Chris was a hard worker and worked from a very young age, a trait that continued well into her nineties. Chris worked outside the home while caring for her family and her handicapped daughter. She took pride in helping to organize/rearrange your kitchen with each visit. She mothered everyone she met and was the resident nurse at each location. She was fiercely independent and set in her ways. She loved to love those she loved.
Chris lived at home in Kerrville, TX until February of 2025. At that time, we moved her to Schulenburg Regency where she was large and in charge. She made many friends during her time at Schulenburg Regency, she loved the staff dearly and was dubbed Grandma by many of them. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.
Chris is survived by her two daughters: Christine Chartier, of Kerrville, TX, and Betty Wills of Springtown, TX; granddaughters: Joy Cameron and husband, Steve, of La Grange, TX, Christine Wills of Springtown, TX, Rebecca Fussell and husband, Sean, of Waxahachie, TX; grandson, Robert Harris of Key West, Florida; along with 13 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren. Chris was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Otis Devaney and her daughter Roberta Devaney.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations of La Grange with the family present at this time to receive friends.
