Christine Ortego Edmond, born on August 17, 1959, in Harris, Texas, passed away at her residence on April 14, 2025. She leaves behind a cherished legacy of love, laughter, and memories.
A Memorial Gathering of family and friends will be held in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas on Saturday, April 19, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A Rosary Service will be recited at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with a Celebration of Life Chapel Service to follow at 11:30 a.m.
Christine proudly dedicated over 20 years of her life to Wal-Mart, where she excelled in management. Outside of her career, Christine enjoyed spending quality time with her loved ones. Christine had a passion for sporting events, with a particular enthusiasm for the New Orleans Saints, always eager to cheer them on. She was also an avid game-show-watcher and her love for animals was notable, as she found immense happiness in being surrounded by them.
She is survived by her three children: her sons, Phillip Edmond and Jason DeVille; her daughter, Katie Edmond; and four grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Rick Ortego, and wife, Venise Ortego; and her sister, Carolyn Chaisson.
Christine was preceded in death by her parents, James Richard Ortego and Emma Jean Meche Ortego, and her brother, Oscar "Jimmy" Chaisson.
While her physical presence will be deeply missed, Christine’s unwavering spirit, warmth, and love will continue to inspire everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
