Christine Poindexter Ellington, born on June 10, 1932, was a cherished member of her community and beloved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She peacefully passed away on March 19, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, love, and dedication to her family.
Family and friends will have the opportunity to celebrate Christine's life and legacy during the visitation on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Duane King and Pastor Tim Gentry. Burial will follow the service at Ruffin Stacey Baptist Church Cemetery.
Throughout her life, Christine deeply valued her faith and enjoyed attending church services at Piedmont Baptist Church in Reidsville. Her love for shopping brought her joy, and she spent many happy hours indulging in this pastime. An avid fan of puzzles, Christine found great pleasure in working crossword puzzles, a reflection of her sharp mind and lifelong thirst for knowledge.
Christine was a devoted mother to her son, Tim Gentry Sr.(Lyn), and she leaves behind a beautiful family that reflects her love and warmth. Her sister, Lorene Covington, remains as a guardian of the many memories they shared. Christine was especially proud of her grandchildren: Jessica Gentry, Timothy Gentry Jr.(Susan), Heidi Blackstock(Preston), Jeremiah Gentry(Abigail), and Isaac Gentry. She is also remembered fondly by her many great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, who carry forward her spirit of love and compassion.
Christine is preceded in death by her loving husbands, Warren Ellington and Louis Gentry; her son, Alvin Gentry. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Ida Poindexter, and her brothers Edmon, Leonard, Paul, and Albert Poindexter, along with her sisters Treva Gallagher, Viola Bailey, Bertha Slaydon, and Ruby Shuff. Her grandson, Joshua Gentry, and her other grandson, Josiah Gentry, are also among those who await her in eternity.
Christine will be greatly missed, but her loving spirit will remain with her family and friends, inspiring them to cherish the good times and to live each day with the same joy and enthusiasm she exhibited throughout her life.
