Christine Louise Flatt, 60, of Springfield, passed away at 5:29 a.m., on Friday, May 7, 2010 at St. John's Hospital. Christine was born July 25, 1949 in Madison, WI, the daughter of Truman and Jane Youngs Christenson. She married David Flatt on September 15, 1984 in Springfield. Christine graduated from Oregon High School in Oregon, WI, and attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison. After moving to Springfield in 1976 she held several different positions during her employment with the State of Illinois, primarily in the Department of Central Management Services. Since 1991 she was the President of Buckhart Sand and Gravel and the Treasurer of Truman Flatt and Sons. Recently, she also served as Chairperson of the Associated General Contractors of Illinois. She was a member of Church of the Little Flower. She will be remembered as an extremely generous and giving person, both in spirit and in resources. Her pastimes were cooking, gardening, traveling and bird watching. She is preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Mary; step-mother, Naomi Christenson; and father-in-law, Truman L. Flatt, Jr. She is survived by her husband, David Flatt of Springfield; son, Truman L. Flatt, III, of Springfield; daughter, Carla Vallone (husband, Greg Fleishman) of Leonia, NJ; granddaughter, Sofia; sister, Kathy (Richard) Larson of Madison, WI; two brothers, Chase Christenson and Timothy Christenson both of Stoughton, WI; an uncle; two great-nephews; many cousins; mother-in-law, Mary Flatt of Springfield; three brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and many cherished nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 9:00 – 10:45 a.m., until the time of a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Church of the Little Flower, 800 Stevenson Dr., Springfield, with Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola, celebrant. Private family burial will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mini O'Beirne Crisis Nursery, 1011 N. 7th St., Springfield, IL 62702.

We were shocked and saddened to hear of Chris' passing. We worked with Chris for many years and she was a kind and caring friend. She was so proud of her children, and her smile and laughter could light up a room. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
