Christine R. "Chris" Johnson

Christine R. Johnson affectionately known as "Chris" daughter of the late Elder Clyde & Francis Hawthorne was born on September 27, 1935 in Hackensack, New Jersey.
Chris migrated to Paterson, NJ at an early age and attended Calvary Baptist Church, where she was an active member until she moved to Georgia in 2005. She met and married Nicholas Johnson in 1965. Chris pursued her passion of becoming a Beautician by attending Beauty School and furthered her skills to open her own Salon "CJ's Smart Set".
Chris was an active member of M B A and Soror of Theta Nu Sigma Sorority where she embraced every opportunity to explore and adventure various parts of the world.
Chris loved her family and had a special bond with her grandchildren and great grands. She loved to entertain and be the Hostess of all time.
In addition to her parents Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Johnson; her only child, Darrin (Pydgeon) Hawthorne; her stepson, Nicholas Johnson Jr.; brothers, Douglas and Samuel Hawthorne; her goddaughter, Canary Horton.
In the early evening of a brand New Year, January 1, 2024 one of God's Angels was called to rest.
Christine leaves to cherish her precious memories her daughter-in-law, Linda Hawthorne; step-daughter, Donna Davis; grandchildren, Dacen Hawthorne, Robert McCrae, Felyncia McCrae, Sharandan McCrae, Nia Hawthorne Wright and Shayla McClary; great grandchildren, Terrance, Qadir, Hazezon, Tryoir, Rydean McCrae, Az Re Hill, Lasyah Turner and Taramisha McCrae; goddaughter, Catherine Devine. She also leaves special friends; Shirley Alexander, Sarah Jackson, Yerrie Roberson and Mildred Tyler and a host of cousins, other family members and friends.
