Emmick Family Funeral & Cremation Services - SeattleChristine Korsmo was born to her parents Delores and Alan Satterlee on December 10, 1952. As a vivacious youth she was a cheerleader for three years at Washington High School in Parkland where she graduated with Honors in 1971. She continued her education at the University of Washington where she rowed during the early years of the Women’s Crew program. This was prior to the passage of Title IX, so the team had no support from the university. Chris recalled that they had to fundraise to be able to afford the travel to crew competitions. She was a member of the UW Lightweight 8 crew and the Lightweight 4+ crew which both won the National Women’s Rowing Championships in Philadelphia in 1973.
Chris married the love of her life, Wayne Korsmo on July 31, 1976 in Seattle, and moved into a home above Green Lake. They have spent their entire 49 years of marriage in this beautiful home with views of the Cascades and the lake. Her career was spent in banking, retiring from Bank of America in 2020 as a member of the Cyber-Security team.
Chris enjoyed her family and loved raising their only son Kyler, always supporting every one of the many sports he played. She also enjoyed gardening and cooking great meals for family and friends.
Chris is survived by her husband Wayne Korsmo, brother Denny Satterlee and numerous nieces and nephews as well as many in her extended family. She was predeceased by her parents, brother James Satterlee and tragically by her son Kyler in 2016. Chris was known as a dedicated wife and mother, a great friend and will be missed by all who knew her.
An Open House will be held to celebrate Chris’s life on Saturday, November 8, from 1pm-3pm in the community room, behind Mechanics Bank, 7307 Greenwood Ave N, Seattle, WA.
